hpupdate.exe runs multiple times with only a few minutes in between.

After installing an HP Officejet j4680 All-in-one I keep getting a program attempting to run called hpupdate.exe followed by an unique string of alphanumeriics.  I also keep getting random popups asking if I just installed a printer cartridge and would I like to align it.
