My printer was working fine, but in the last month, I have been unable to correct a printing issue, which involves colored text that double prints or is blurry, it looks like it has a shadow mostly any color has a red shadow. I have replaced all the cartridges, checked to make sure the tape was pulled off all and performed a cleaning, and all tests I could find or had access to. I am beyond frustrated and am ready to throw it out the window. Does anyone have any solutions?

I'm having the same issues - just started out of no where. I'm hitting walls trying to find resolution to this issue.

Try solution 10 in the following document, or the entire document, but what you describe sounds like an issue with the Color Plane being "off". If nothing else, start with 10, and if that doesn't resolve it, continue from solution 1 (excluding steps you have already taken).
All 4 cartridges must release toner in the same print area - any deviation (left/right/up/down) and you will see the double-print and/or shadowing.
You can also try updating the firmware - Download FW Update Utility Here as it has the following fixes (if not already at version 20100201):
1. SureSupply defects fixed.
2. The printer will now reset CPR (Color Plane Registration) values to the default setting on a calibration retry.
3. Contains all previous fixes and enhancements.
Let me know how it goes ![]()

My CP1215 is having the same issues. Let me guess, yours started the issue just after the warranty expired, correct? I have tried everything - all of the online fixes, replacing toner cartridges, and, I downloaded the firmware update. Nothing works. Very frustrating. I didn't have any issues with my old Epson laser and I had it for years. Could be time to switch back...

I can't imagine why the tech people tell you to calibrate it. It does not work. The color is off and nothing fixes it. I've tried everything. My old HP worked like a trojan but this one is worthless. Please rewrite the firmware to fix this.

I fixed our shadowing problem not sure which one worked because I did a number of things all together.
- I uninstalled & reinstalled software because it created more than one printer driver example: HP Color LaserJet CP1215 (Copy 1) - HP Color LaserJet CP1215 (Copy 2) - HP Color LaserJet CP1215 (Copy 3)
- I upgraded the firmware & pointed it to the default printer - HP Color LaserJet CP1215
- I changed the paper in the printer.
- I calibrated it 3 to 4 times.
- Printed a test page and all colors lined up beautifully
Note: Make sure when you open and close the drawer to change print cartridges to be careful not hit the little white tab on the right side of the drawer it can knock the print cartridges out of line.
Ours is working great now hope this helps! If you don't have the patience do do these steps or just want to throw it out the window, please send them to us. Our media department could use more printers. LOL!

Wow, this is good news. Although I have done all these things without result I will again once I get into the mood to climb that steep mountain. This is a great Christmas present.

Don't quit keep with it, I almost quit because I was getting mad. They kept harping on changing paper, changing paper. My paper had sat in it for some time in a room where temperature changes was up and down. The paper could have dried out to much or may have gotten moisture in it from the temperature changes. I know it sounds crazy but change the paper with fresh paper along with calibrating it 3 or 4 times and see if you get different results.

Many of the Calibration problems that Customers have been experiencing have cropping up in the past couple of Months. It makes me think HP is Causing the problem somehow. HP Can check your Toner Cartridges at any time to see how much toner you have left. They were dismayed to learn that people weren't buying their Highly overpriced Toner cartridges in favor of Remanufactured ones for 1/6th the cost. They can tell whether you have an HP or a remanufactured cartridge installed. They may be causing the problem in a maligned effort to win back customers to the HP brand Toner Cartridges. Lots of luck. Word has it they're in financial trouble, and may fold next year. {Content Removed}

Funny as it seems when the magenta and blue are out of aline changing the yellow corrects it. I still am just using this printer for spot color. I love all the support in these forums. I know something good will come out of it![]()
