no copies when using auto feed -- Deskjet 6500 E709n - Vista 64 bit

All of the sudden my Deskjet 6500 E709n all-in-one printer will not copy from the auto feed tray.  The original does feed through and a blank piece of paper prints out.  I know what you are thinking, that I am an idiot and have the paper in upside down, that is not the case here.  I am using a double sided original.  I can copy by putting the original on the glass.  Any ideas on what I can try?
