print job disappears from queue before printing to Photosmart 8700 from Publisher

When printing from Publisher 2003 to Photosmart 8700 printer, job appears briefly in the print queue and then immediately disappears before printing. Job is a 13x19 photo. It works when paper size setting include "borderless" but not when this option is not selected. The "borderless" setting stretches the image making it impossible to accurately obtain the actual size I need.  The selection of "matte" paper also seems to cause the failure as well as omitting the "borderless" option.

I have allowed Windows 7 to recognize the printer and install its own driver (repeated this process a couple of times.) HP does not appear to provide a new driver for this printer under Windows 7.

Any and all suggestions welcome.
