Palm Zire 71 and Windows 7

Palm says there is no way to use this model on 64-bit windows 7. I tried to run the Palm 4.14 program on XP SP3 modeafter downloading but it still doesn't recognize COM1 when I go to setup the hotsync (program does open). Is there any way around this problem short of buying a new PDA?

Post relates to: Zire 71

I wouldn't say there is no way to get it to sync, but it will take some work.

There is no way to get it to sync via USB, you will have to obtain an IR to USB dongle and then set up and do an IR sync.

Re: Palm Zire 71 and Windows 7

My zire 71 would not sync to my windows 7.  If I customize the hotsync to "desktop overwrite handlheld", it does not sync.  My machine is 32-bit.  It keeps on asking me to reset the handheld but does not update the date.  Any help would be really appreciated.
