Palm z22 help

I had a Palm Z22 for many years and really depended on it. I stopped working one day (the screen would not recognize the stylus) and I tried to buy a used one on Ebay.

I was finally able to buy what one seller was advertising as "new", he had bought for his parent and it was never "used"

When I got it I found that the son had set it up with many contacts and memos.

I was able to delete the memos but am trying to select all of the contacts to delete tham rather than doing that one by one.

Also, I thought that I would be able to set it up to my account on the computer and run a Hot Sync to back it up and have all of my information that is stored on my computer transferred onto the new palm. It is telling me that I need to set up a new Account on my computer; can I have it sync with my old palm software?

Re: Palm z22 help

Has anyone helped you with this yet?  I have the same problem.  I got one from a friend and am trying to match the user name in the "new" palm with the account on my compter so I can sync this "new" one with the data on my computer.

Re: Palm z22 help

No, I've gotten no response. Doesn't look good for future HP purchases; We got my daughter an HP computer and are also less than thrilled with the customer support.

I really want to use the palm but want to have all of my contacts transferred.

Re: Palm z22 help

I'm going to try to move my data files to a different location and then uninstall and reinstall the software and hook up the "new" Palm and see if that works. I may not get to this until next weekend.

Re: Palm z22 help

[ Edited ]

Now that this post has arrived in the proper section, we can answer your question!

BTW, Palm Inc. ceased to exist many years ago, and HP does not offer support for the older PalmOS devices.  We are a few volunteers left here who offer our time to help others and "Pay it forward".

Simply Hard Reset the "new" Z22 to erase it and put it back into the "out of the box" condition.  Press and hold the power switch, then tap and release the tiny Reset button in the back.  When you see the grey Palm logo, release the power switch.  You should see the question "Erase all data, Y/N?"  Press the UP direction on the 5-way pad to complete the Hard Reset.  The device will take a few minutes to reinstall the original programs.

Now perform a HotSync.  Palm Desktop will recognize the device as "new" and will ask you Use an existing Hotsync account, or create a new one?"  Choose existing, and pick your original Hotsync account.  All your personal data should return.

HTH,
