Thanks for reply - I agree that it "should" but there is a size issue...

The regular 364 black fits snuggly in its slot - there is no space at the sides for any bigger cartridge.

My understanding is that the 364XL cartridge is larger in physical size than the regular 364. If that is the case, then how can it fit?

Or am I wrong on the physical size issue (I am simply going on what the shop told me re. size)?

Thanks for your continued advice.

Hi nookster600

The size of the black cartridge was changed, but it will still fit into the printhead. Check out details below.....

Re: 364 XL ink compatible with HP Deskjet 3070?

[ Edited ]

In the photos above, two different versions of the 3070 are depicted.  The top one is the current model with the reduced cartridge carriage.  The one at the bottom is an old version, not a current 3070 (it may even be another model number, as the 364 XL was intended to work in different printers).

I purchased an HP Deskjet 3070A last week and it absolutely cannot accept a remanufactured HP Black 364 XL cartridge of the type shown in the bottom illustration. (I bought the machine in Sweden, and the cartridge also.)  The setup cartridge died quickly, so I went and bought the last available Black 364 in the store, an XL.   The cartridge is dated sell by 06/2012, but there is no way that it will fit into the slot.

I'm getting pretty tired of HP's shenanigans with its confusing lineup of look-alike printers and all-in-ones which in fact are calculatingly designed to be incompatible and thus require feeding endless streams of money.  I doubt my next printer will be an HP.

Re: 364 XL ink compatible with HP Deskjet 3070?

This isn't true.  The version of the 3070A i purchased last year has only four ink cartridge slots and the largest of the four definitely WILL NOT accommodate the old 364XL cartridge.

Be sure you buy a new 364XL cartridge which, not surprisingly, contains half as much ink as the former.  Anything HP can do to squeeze its captive printer audience for a few more bucks, it will.  Count on it.

Re: 364 XL ink compatible with HP Deskjet 3070?

I just want to confirm that Black ink 364XL is compatible with Deskjet 3070 B611a.

I've bought 364XL with p/n CN684EE (last 2 letters "EE" may vary on country/region)  and cartridge is same size as standard capacity 364 ink cartridge so it fits into it's place in printer's carousel with no issues.

Hope it helps and finally answers many questions :smileyhappy:

PS. There is also another black 364XL ink cartridge available but it is a "photo type ink cartridge" (p/n: CB322EE) and I'm not sure if this will fit into 3070 carousel. Someone who have tried it already can give us a tip  here :smileyhappy:
