Hi all,
I have a hp1200 LaserJet installed on an XP Pro computer and I am trying to access it with another pc running windows 7 64bit. I have the printer shared and I can access it from every other computer in my house which is more than you can imagine but these are all running XP or Vista. The only pc giving me a headache is my newly built pc running windows7 64..
I have tried installing the droivers on the win7 machine but strangely enough, when I run the install script it starts searching for a driver from windows update. After it doesn't find anything it gives me a chance to manually pick the .inf file but when I pick it I get an error...
When I go into the network I can see the printer fine but I cannot use it. Unfortunatly the mothebroard on my new pc has no printer input so I really need to get this going. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Please pardon me if this has been covered. I just don't have time to go through the forum anymore than I already have.
--Added--I just realized this printer does have a usb connection. I wasn't aware of it because I haven't opened it up in years and it is behind the cover. At any rate, I tried to hook this up and I believe the driver installed auto right from Win7 but I still cannot get it to print from this pc.
Can I have 2 different pc's hooked up to this printer at the same time? One with usb and the other with the printer cable? This could be my problem. I really would still like to use the network because my next laptop will have win7 also and I will need the network then as well..
Thanks so much,
