Re: Basic only Software Load

Thank you, Thank you.

After all this time and many hours, consulting with various 'experts', even at Microsoft, you solved the problem.

The problem was the Shell Hardware Detection service not starting.

Re: Basic only Software Load

Hi precaster,

Not sure if you're still following this thread since your scanning problem has been fixed, but may I ask if you had ever installed or used any "PC Tools" software such as "Registry Mechanic" or "Performance Toolkit"?   Based on a few other customers reports, installing or using these tools can cause these WIA services and dependencies to be disabled.

Thanks

Jeremy

Re: Basic only Software Load

Yes I have used this program. I thought it was strange these all got shut off since I replaced a previous scanner printer with the new HP and everything worked before. But I did use PCTools program between. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Basic only Software Load

Our newer AIO units in the last two years are now based on WIA architecture.   Because of this, we are exposed when anything shuts down this service or any of its dependencies.  Since our new WIA based software is relatively recent, we having to relearn what can break it, and get our solutions and support teams up to speed.

Thanks for taking the time to confirm this.  I am finding that lots of customers have PC Tools SW on their systems with these problems.

Thanks

Jeremy
