C309a CD printer stopped working

I've printed on many CD"s successfully with my C309a, and I love this printer!

However, a couple of days ago the CD printer failed, and I can no longer print on CD's.  The tray is pulled into the machine, then moved out, and the LCD displays the message "A printing problem occured when printing to the CD/DVD.  Verify that there is space behind the printer and that the slot  on the rear of the printer is not blocked".

I have verified that the slot is clear, and yet this problem persists.

What can I do to get this problem resolved?

Re: C309a CD printer stopped working

After the error message comes up, if I press the "OK" key, the message reads "Media loading", but it doesn't.  There are no motor noises at all.

Shutting down the printer and trying again results in the same repeating experience.

Did a motor burn out or something?  Can this be repaired?

Re: C309a CD printer stopped working

Well, never mind.  After trying about 40 times, with interspersed other activities such as power-cycles, prints to paper and photo paper, and copies,  it suddenly started working again for no obvious reason.  Very frustrating! I lost about two days trying to figure this out.  Oh well, at least it works now.  Hope it keeps working!

Re: C309a CD printer stopped working

stangraz.....I got the same problem and was pretty bummed and dumb-founded....then I read your post and that gave me a clue.....I tried a couple of printing cycles....what happened in my case was as soon as I printed a DUPLEX print job (back-to-back printing on a page), it seems that something internally got unstuck and I was able to Print my DVDs and the error didn't happen again.

Frustrating, but atleast I was able to immediately work around it....didn't cost me 2 days like you, but I did loose 2 hours.
