Re: C4580 Printer Installation Failing with Fatal Error "HPSLPSVC32.DLL failed to register

[ Edited ]

OH DEAR LORD!  After hours spent on trying to find the fix giving permissions to the SVCHOST folder was the fix.  It wasn't antivirus, windows update, or the firewall.  Worked for me on a Windows XP SP3 joined to a domain and trying to get an HP Officejet 6500 E709a Series connected via USB and network share.  THANKS arb_uk! :smileyvery-happy:

Except on my Windows XP SP3 the path to the SVCHOST folder was:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SvcHost

What normal user would figure that out?  HP please fix that on the software end so normal end users won't be so frustrated.

Re: C4580 Printer Installation Failing with Fatal Error "HPSLPSVC32.DLL failed to register

Dexter M.

I am trying to install the software from the HP site for my Photosmart C7280 and I am getting the Fatal Error During installation.  "Service 'HP Network Device Support' (HPSLPSVC) could not be stopped.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop the system services.  Please go to http://www.hp.com/support for troubleshooting information about "Fatal Error" and "MSI.netdevicemanager01".

I find no help on the HP web sit.  I did trying to go to the SvcHost and click on permissions but I cannot change the permission on my log in or any other listed user.  Only the "TrustedInstaller" has full control function.  This is my home computer and not my office computer.  Let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions.

Re: C4580 Printer Installation Failing with Fatal Error "HPSLPSVC32.DLL failed to register

Hi,

I am still struggling to set the permission to SvcHost. I have Administrator rights and logged on corporate domain. Can you help around this. Using Windows 7 and trying to install the full HP software pack and drivers for 2610 Photosmart.

Thanks

Vasil

Re: C4580 Printer Installation Failing with Fatal Error "HPSLPSVC32.DLL failed to register

Hi arb_uk,

I have an issue when I try to set permissions of SvcHost. I am getting "Access is denied". I checked and I have Administrator rights, but I am logged on corporate domain (I dont know if that is a problem).

Thanks in advance

Vasil

Re: C4580 Printer Installation Failing with Fatal Error "HPSLPSVC32.DLL failed to register

This registry permission thing happens on Vista also. Even though you have admin rights, it doesn't let you do it. I'm currenty not running Win 7 on my PC due to a hard drive failure. So I'm afraid I can't help regarding the registry permission issue just yet. Hope someone else can.

Re: C4580 Printer Installation Failing with Fatal Error "HPSLPSVC32.DLL failed to register

Hello DexterM,

I tried your commands as you suggested and got the message that 'loadlibrary("hpslpsvrc32.dll") failed - The specified module could not be found.  I read the next reply and don't understand how to get into the hot keys and into the svchost.  Can you help guide me through this.  I am using Microsoft XP and trying to install the driver software for the HP Officejet 6500 and run ito this fatal error.

I'll post the steps necessary in a few hours, or maybe tomorrow. I'm just a little tied up with a few activities in the next few hours. So check back here in about 6 hours. Thanks.

Also, could you tell me if you installed the current software using the CD that came with the printer or did you download it from HP.com?

Re: C4580 Printer Installation Failing with Fatal Error "HPSLPSVC32.DLL failed to register

I tried loading from both the CD and downloaded version from the HP site that cust support told me to load.  I googled the instructions on how to adjust the registry and once I set the permission, I didn't have anymore problems loading the software.  My printer is now on-line.  Thanks for your help.  I had to do a bit more work, but I finally figured it out.

Re: C4580 Printer Installation Failing with Fatal Error "HPSLPSVC32.DLL failed to register

It's been over 5 hours of frustration....

I've changed my security permissions in the registry per the instructions in this thread.  I've also followed dexters path in the Command Prompt and wind up with

"The module "hpslpsvc32.dll failed to load.

Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependant .DLL files.

The specified module could not be found."

I've gone through solutions in the HP troubleshooting site which had me stopping startup programs, checking the version of Windows Installer, and renaming a file miscodee.dll (which I could never rename since I couldn't get permission even though I'm working under administrator).

Now after the failed install each time it just hangs on the "Installer is getting installation failure information" screen until I have to force close.

I've tried both CD, downloaded drivers full and basic. and it's the same problem everytime.  I installed the divers on another computer that is XP and it woks fine.  This computer is a Vista 32 and it's the computer I need it on the most.  I'll be returning the printer if I can't get support.
