Here's a page that describes how to address that issue.

Re: C7280 All in one

I have gone through the process described here to unplug, reinsert cartridges, etc.  Still keep getting "Error - pump motor stalled", but no alphanumeric or other code.  A few tries ago I was getting the "ink system failure" error instead.  I never get them at the same time, and have not had any type of code number or letter or both for some time.  PLEASE can  you help me?  There must be a way to fix this!  Thanks for your help.

Re: C7280 All in one

Yes, I went to skippyjohnson's link and followed those steps several times.  After I follow all those steps, when it says to try to print a page, my display is back at  "pump motor stalled -- press **" -- where ** is an unidentifiable icon.  Any more thoughts on what I should try?  Thanks.

Re: C7280 All in one

Thanks PCWizard -- while this did not solve my problem, it did provide a few different symptoms.  I''m guessing my printer is just dead, but here's what happened just in case that gives you any more usable info:

1. First time I followed your instructions:  resulted in "pump motor stalled **".

2. Tried again -- came up with solid blue screen showing a picture of a power button and the following number:  BA0803FC.

3. Tried again -- now says to add paper to main paper tray -- but there was already paper in it. When I try to get out of that screen, I get to "clear carriage jam", so I opened and closed it, and then it said add paper, so I added more paper anyway.  Now it did it's "prepping noises" for quite a while, and then asked me to load photo paper in photo tray.  NOTE: I have never printed photos, but a number of months ago the photo menu light just started staying lit -- I just ignored it because it let me do everything I wanted and I didn't think much of it at the time.  Hindsight suggests maybe I should have checked back then, when my extended warranty was still in effect?

4. Shut down the printer with the power button.  Unplugged it and then followed your instructions again. Printer remained off, but I was able to turn it on with the power button.

5. Result -- Screen said I had choice of replay (showed replay button) or "OK" to continue. I saw this last screen several times during this whole process, just didn't always get it written down.

Next I chose OK for the last time  . Just goes back to request add paper to photo tray.

I'm guessing the printer is dead, but let me know if any of this suggests any other solution to you,  Thanks so much for your help,

Hi catbirdwatcher,

Yes, it sounds like you are having a hardware failure with this printer. Check out the following links below for additional options you may be interested in.

Re: C7280 All in one

Thanks for all your help.  At least I know I've left no stone unturned.

I was able to open the first link you sent me, but the second one said that my access was denied because I didn't have permission to access the server.  Is there a different link I should try?

All good things must eventually come to an end (and I really did like that printer!).   I had no problems until it just went nuts a couple of weeks ago.  Wish it had done it last Sept. when it was still under warranty!  Oh well.

Again, thanks.
