I successfully installed the same software on the C: partition of Win 7 Pro. Unfortunately I get different results for when it's connected by USB vs wireless network.
If connected by USB, it results in the newer Win7 format of using a newer icon, and both instances of the printer (fax vs printer) being nested together as one. That makes sense, since it's actually one printer with multiple functions. If I use the network scan option, it finds the printer and installs successfully, but the installation is in the older format. It creates two separate printers using the older generic icon, and clicking the icon does not show the newer Win 7 printer dialog page.
I tried installing it first as USB, then changing the port to the TCP/IP port created by the network install method, but Solution Center then complains that it's not connected.
This is only cosmetic, effectively, but does anyone have a workaround?

"AFAIK, there is no loss of functionality with the newer UI, so why bother with it?"
The newer UI I'm referring to is in the printers list, not in HP Solution Center. The new Win 7 printer UI is an improvement. If you install the AIO as a USB connection, you get it. If you install the exact same AIO as a network connection, you don't. The only difference is the port you connect on, network vs USB. I don't understand why HP didn't replicate the newer functionality in the network connection process.
There is no loss of functionality with the newer (Win7 printer) UI. There is a gain of functionality, at least in the usefulness of the UI. It is that functionality I seek, but I'm not losing sleep over it.

Hello there!
I'm moving to Win7 home premium 64 platform and I'm struggling to make win7 recognize my c7280 via USB port. I've installed the latest software for win7 64 (...130_140) and it doesn't work at all.
I've tried to update manually the drivers but I didn't find it, neither on the installed software nor on Windows drivers automatic update.
I'd appreciate any help on this issue.![]()

What is the nature of "not working at all". What error messages? If you go to Add a printer does thePhotosmart c7200 series show up in the list?

Hi Bob!
Thanks indeed for your reply. That's weird but the computer didn't recognize at all when the printer was connected thru USB.
As a last resource action I changed the USB cable and as a magic the computer recognize immediately the printer. Can you believe it????
I felt like a stupid wasting so much time trying to figure out how to fix it.
Now let's move to the second stage of the problem. (yes! still a problem)
Now this is a different subject, but I needed to fix the connection issue first.
I'm living in UAE now but I was living in China for 8 years and I brought this printer from there and now I'm experiencing cartridges regions issue.
I've already contact HP support and they gave me all the steps to change the printer region (regionalize).
First I did wirelessly and it doesn't work. Then I contact by phone HP UAE support and they asked me to do it via USB connection (The issue above). It doesn't work as well.
I followed all the steps, changing 02 cartridges by 177. As requested I printed out an "EXTENDED SELF TEST DIAGNOSTIC" and they gave me the codes to insert in the procedure.
Now I have no idea what to do...![]()
Most probably the final solution will be to take the printer to the service center in Dubai (I'm living in Abu Dhabi)
Anyway if you have any advice will be highly appreciated.
Thanks![]()
