Good Day!
Early in 2010 I purchased an HP Laserjet P1102w printer. When I purchased this printer I was using Windows XP asthe computer's operating system and the printer worked wonderfully printing on both sides of the paper.
About 2 months ago I updaed my operating system - since installing Windows 7 I have been unable to print on both sides of a sheet of paper. I have tried everything to rectify this problem but alas, to no avail. Can anyone help?
Thank you,

Hi Jimforde,
Do you have the Full Feature software and driver installed?

Thank you for your help and advice.
Yes, I do have the "Full Feature" software and driver installed - to be ceratain I did I re-installed it after receivedng your message.
I also have the "Allow Manual Duplexing" box checked on the Device Settings Tab within HP Laserjet Professional P1102w Properties. When I try to print on boith side I do the following: Open printer driver, click on Propoerties, click the Finishing Tab, chevck the "Print on Both Sides (Manually)" and then click OK. A screen then appears with instructions on how to re-instal the paper for the 2nd side - this screen though dissapears before I can click "Continue" - by this time the printer has printed the document on 2 seperate sheets opf paper.
Before installing Windows 7 this duplexing functuion worked very well - it is very frustrating that it no longer will work.

Hi jimforde,
Have you tried installing the printer on a different computer to see if you have the same issue?

Interesting question - no I had not but, I just tried it on a new laptop which also has the HP LaserJet P1102w installed - the duplexing feature on the LT works beautifully. Incidentally the LT is also running Windows 7.
I just compared all the settings in"Printer Properties" on both machines.
- On the LT under the General Tab in the paper available window it says "Letter" and Double-sided: Yes.
- On the PC under the General Tab in the paper avaiable window it says A4 and Double sided: Yes
- When I go click on the "Preferences" button on the LT it goes to the Paper /Quality Tab in the Printer Preferences Window - there it shows "Defaults" in the Print Task Quick Sets window and "Letter" in the Size is window.
- When I go click on the "Preferences" button on the PC it goes to the Paper /Quality Tab in the Printer Preferences Window - there it shows "Untitled" in the Print Task Quick Sets window and "A4" in the Size is window. I have tried to change the settinfg to "Letter" and "Defaults" but it will not accept the change and alwasy returens to "A4" and "Untitled." How do I get this computer to accept the changes?
Thanks for all your help so far - we may solve this yet!

Hi jimforde,
Sounds like you need to uninstall the printer from the PC, and then reinstall the printer from the link i provided earlier in this thread. Let me know what you find out?

I have had the same problem for 8 months. 4 computers share the printer, including Win 8 beta. My Win 7 desktop is the only one that will not pause to duplex. Latest firmware. Reinstalled the full feature too many times and am real tired of the "reinstall" answers for everything. I will check those paper settings and see. A4 is not letter and HP may have yet ANOTHER software or firmware issue. Thanks

Thanks, but I had that firmware installed already. When trying tp print manual duplex, the on-screen popup opens that instructs to "clkick her" when page one is finished, but the printer never stops and prints the next page on a new sheet. The pop up then closes as though I had clicked "continue", but I never did click it.
Your turn again...

Hi counting_heads,
You indicated that this Win 7 computer is the only one doing this. Install the printer on another PC running Win 7, and let me know if you have the same issue?
There might be a setting within Win 7 causing the issue.
