Can I reset my forgotten password of CM1415fnw

Hello

I have not forgotten my password on Laser Jet Pro CM1415fnw control panel in administration. But if I had, would there be any possibilities to reset that at home?

Best regards

Hi. The only way to do this would be to restore the printer to its factory default settings by following the steps below:

1. On the product control panel, touch the Setup button.
2. Scroll to and touch the Service menu.
3. Scroll to and touch the Restore Defaults button, and then touch the OK button.

I tried that, but password was asked, when I touched to Service menu. So that do not help me, if I do not know the password. It seems best not to forget the password :smileywink:

It seems so. It's best if you write it down somewhere or save it in your notes in your Email or something like that.

Re: Can I reset my forgotten password of CM1415fnw

When you originally set the password up, you did it through the embedded web server (EWS). You should be able to access this page and reset the password through here.

1. Open the HP Embedded Web Server by entering the product IP address into the address line of a Web browser.

2. Click the Settings tab.

3. On the left side of the window, click the Security menu.

4. In the Device Security Settings area, click the Configure . . . button.

5. In the Device Password area, type the password in the New Password box, and type it again in

the Verify password box.

6. Click the Apply button. Make note of the password and store it in a safe place.

Re: Can I reset my forgotten password of CM1415fnw

hello everyone,

I just purchased this amazing printer, i bougth this printer so i can print directly from my ipad and so far it's working perfectly but the only issue i have is that the wireless network that the printer uses is open hence anyone arround can connect and print from the printer .

i went into settiings to change the password but it seems the password is only meant to restrict people from changing the printer settings. Does anyone have any idea how i can password the inbuilt wireless on the printer,

Note that there is no router connected, it's just the printer, laptop and ipad .

Looking forward to hearing from you,

thanks

Re: Can I reset my forgotten password of CM1415fnw

yes you can 100%

----------------------------

Thanks to MikeMo for providing clean hint on "Hard Reset" of this printer model.

After few attempts I learned the right trick for this task.

Attention: During this Hard Reset process you will loose all of your own printer settings (i.e. printer settings will be restored to factory default settings & admin [device security] password will be removed.

This is what if you are looking for then go ahead with following steps.

1. Switch off Printer's power toggle switch (located on left side of the printer)

2. When the printer switched off, look at the touch screen of this printer extreme left

3. Extreme left side of the touch screen you will notice 3 icons areas [not visible as bright] as follows:

(a) ? - mark (located on upper side)

(b) > - right arrow mark (located in middle)

(c) X - mark (located on bottom)

4. Touch & hold the area of (b) - do not release the hold

5. Switch On printer's power toggle switch now & still you should hold down the area of (b) in touch screen

6. Once the touch screen shows "Storage Init" then release the (b) area touch

7. Wait for couple of seconds

Now printer's customer data is wiped including device security password.
