Can't Install HP Photosmart C7280 Wireless on Windows 8 Consumer Preview

Anybody manage to successfully install the HP Photosmart C7280 Wireless on Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Keep getting stuck at 84%.

There is no full feature software and drivers for the Win 8 Beta. You will need to open the printers folder, and then run the windows update from add a printer to see if the printer is listed. The only drivers available at this time is NOS drivers from Microsoft.

I can get the printer to work. but not the scanner. Usually, Windows 7 installs a driver for the HP Photosmart C7200 Series Printer as well as the HP Photosmart C7200 Series Fax and the HP Photosmart C7200 Series Scanner. The first two live in Printers in Device Manager and the third lives in Imaging Devices in Windows 7. But the HP Photosmart C7200 Series Fax driver is not being installed in Windows 8. The printer works fine, but not the scanner. When opening HP Solution Centre, the advice is that the device installation is incomplete.

There is no Full feature software and driver for this printer in Win 8 yet. The only driver is the Windows NOS driver which is print only. If you have the printer connected USB you might be able to scan using windows scan and fax wizard.

Hi PresidentJFK,

HP has not released any pre-release drivers for Win 8 yet. The only drivers available is the Windows NOS driver which you can obtain using the following method.

Windows Update:

There might be a more functional or more up-to-date driver available for your printer through Microsoft Windows Update. If Windows Update is enabled, then the Windows Update process activates automatically when you connect (USB and Network connections) the printer to the computer. It searches online for the most recent print driver on the Windows Update site. If the online driver is more functional than the currently installed driver in Windows 8, the computer downloads and installs this driver.

Sorry, I am not aware of any pre-release driver other than the Windows NOS driver.
