Can't install Officejet 6500 drivers if using wireless connection

I installed the Windows 7 x64 drivers for HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - E709n successfully on my desktop but it failed to install the drivers on my laptop because I was using my wireless connection. I unstall the entire suite of application on my laptop, deactivated the wireless connection and use the wired connection and the drivers was successfully installed. My printer is on the network (using LAN).

Did you use the disk??

I just finished installing my 6500 and once I got all the pieces in place without breaking anything I used the disk and it seemed to work just fine for setting up the machine including both the USB and wireless.  I only went on line for registration. 

My biggest question and possible regret is there is no paper guide to keep the sheets firmly forward and no way to use a second insertion for 4x6 photos.  May wish I had sprung for the 8500.

I didn't use a disk because I downloaded the drivers from the HP web site once it became available and that should be unrelated to the issue of installing the HP drivers when the computer is using a wireless connection.

I have just purchased a G7-340us notebook and am trying to load the software for my Officejet 6500 printer and encountered an unusual problem.

When trying to install the software on the laptop I get a message that the operating system (Windows 7) is not supported, software is for Windows XP. Makes sense as it indicated the supplied soft ware is for Windows XP.

OK, I download the new software for the printer which is for Windows 7. When I load it is stops and gives me this message - Your  operating system  (Windows 7) is not supported, load on a system with Windows XP.

So, I downloaded the new softrware again and got the same result. Seems to be a software issue as the printer is not involved. 

Anyone encountered this same issue? Anyone have a resolution. Thanks

So you downloaded the Windows 7 drivers (either the x32 or x64 version) for your printer, then the installer complained? That's odd, if the first drivers you tried to use complained it wasn't XP, it shouldn't have changed anything. I'm not sure what you can do other than making sure you have the right drivers.

that's right, it should not. but it does. the supplied software disc would not load because it was for Vista and XP. the new donloaded ( Ver 13)  tells me it can't load because i am using Windows XP. quite a conundrum

I don't think it is a computer problem but a software problem and I am not alone. All I do is to se3lect the wireless installation and I am told the operating system is unsupported Win 7)

I am getting another copy of the HP  software - HP 0J6500VE709_FULL_13 to see if that's the problem.

Please tell me how you installed officejet 6500 and windows 7. Neither I nor HP are able to do so via a usb cable.
