Can't install existing printer on my new laptop

I am in a catch 22 situation. Desktop running HP Photosmart C6280 is Windows XP. New laptop is Windows 7 64 bit. I will be moving everything to the laptop and getting rid of the desktop.

Message when I try to install printer on my new laptop says my OS not supported. Message on HP website says they have an update to fix issue but it can't be used on a new installation. I can't install until I get the patch loaded but I can't get the patch loaded until after I install. What do I do?

Hello,

I found help- on your site and did manage to complete the installation but my laptop is wireless and the only option I could chose to complete the installation required USB connection and I would like to direct documents to printer from other rooms via my wireless connection.

Thank you for any suggestion you may have.

Try the following document for help installing the product on your network.

Installing the Printer Software on a Wireless or Wired (Ethernet) Network
