Hi guys,
I' having troubles installing the software and drivers for a Laserjet 100 M175a. I tried with the software from the CD / website / USB drive from the printer, always getting the same error.
The installation stops around 83% in the Prepare to install phase saying that: "A problem occured while preparing to install software to your system. Blah Blah Blah". No error codes, no other interesting message.
Of course, I restarted, stopped the firewall, antivirus, even all the software that I have running in background.
Checking the EventLog, I can see the following error:
Type : System.ServiceModel.CommunicationObjectFaultedExce
Message : The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state.
Source : mscorlib
Help link :
Data : System.Collections.ListDictionaryInternal
TargetSite : Void HandleReturnMessage(System.Runtime.Remoting.Messag
Stack Trace :
Server stack trace:

at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel.Ensure
at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel.Call(S
at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel.Call(S
at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannelProxy.I
at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannelProxy.I
And it goes on and on.
I couldnt find any help on the internet/HP site on this, can anyone please help me ?
(The printer works & installs OK on a Lion iMac)
Thank you.

Since this is a WCF service issue, I checked a bit what happens during install... it seems at aroung 80% of the installation, the HP DS Service is installed and started OK.
Then the installation seems to stall, slowly going up to 83% where is gives me that error.
Is it possible that it can't connect to the HP DS Service ? I freed port 80/443, stopped IIS and everything else without any luck.

Well, I give up.
Extremely poor written software for such a big company, I am very dissapointed. No one could help me, not from the store that sold it, not from HP Support where the store send an email (actually they didn't even bother to answer).

On Lion, the HP Printer Software Update 2.8 keeps coming up each day, although I install it each time.
Other users are complaining about the same thing and checkin the install.log shows not problems, of course.
This is getting funnier and funnier, they can't get neither of the drivers right.
Well, I know what programmers are working at HP in my country and I suppose the same applies everywhere, so I guess the mystery is solved
