Change auto-off in HP 1606dn.

I have tried changing auto-off in Printer Properties/Device Settings/set auto-off to 30 minutes, then Apply and OK to exit.

Run the configuration page from the printer - still default 5 minutes.

I have tried using a network connection and also a USB connection. Neither works.

Printer: HP1606dn

Win7 64 bit

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Change auto-off in HP 1606dn.

Hi,

Please try using the EWS page rather than the printer software and let me know if that helps:

From your browser, type the printer IP address to access the EWS page.

Click the Settings tab.

Click the Print Settings option.

Set the Auto Off as disabled and click Apply to accept the changes.

Additionally, make sure the printer indeed enter into Auto Off mode (completely shut down) and not into power save mode.

If the issue persist, I would also suggeest you to verify the latest firmware is installed on your device:

Please let me know if that helps,

Shlomi

Re: Change auto-off in HP 1606dn.

Thanks for the reply. I think I had already tried the EWS, but did it again.

I have now been abe to change auto-off to 15 minutes, but any change I make does not seem to go into effect until a print job is sent to the printer. (Which obviously is not a problem.)

Attempts to change auto-off to 30 minutes seem to permanently keep the printer "on" - it never times out using the 30 minute setting.

When I get a chance I will check the firmware.

Re: Change auto-off in HP 1606dn.

Just a followup. I did upgrade the firmware - though my printer was fresh out of the box, its firmware was from sometime in 2010.

And now the timeout at 30 minutes does work.

Thanks.
