Clean the paper path

I want to know how to Clean the paper path on my HP LaserJet CP1025nw that is installed on my Macintosh running OSX 10.6.8 The instructions talk of a Windows System Tray, which a Macintosh does not have.

Re: Clean the paper path

Hi MacBuddha,

See Page 95:

LaserJet Professional CP1020 User Guide c01949965

I just had occasion to pull this for another user, here is the Service Guide for this printer!  I hope you never need it, but it might be nice to have it.

LaserJet Pro CP1020 Series Service Manual

Good News.  If you do not already have it, you can also download and install the Full Feature Software for this printer for your OS.  Nice.

In many cases, you can (re)install the Full Feature Software for your printer to enhance its capabilities.  The HP Solution Center is an integrated part of the FFS.

(Re)install the basic driver or Full Feature Software:

Drivers control hardware connected to the computer (wired or wireless).

Software controls the programs that interact with the User.

  • Go to the top of the forum page to Support and Drivers
  • Enter your Printer Model information, and then go to Software and Drivers...
  • Enter your Operating System in the Drop-down menu...  Scroll down
  • Look for category Driver - Product Installation Software
  • Select the appropriate Basic Driver or Full Feature Software – if available for your printer Save the *.exe installation package on your computer -
  • NOTE the name and the location - the *.exe file will likely save to "Downloads “Install the Software / Driver installation package:  It will be named *.exe – the package will most likely be located in the Downloads folder.  If you have ‘Admin’ control, you may highlight the package and “double-click” to install it, else Right-Click, Select ‘run as Administrator’ and install.

NOTE:  There is sometimes a lot of information at the printer’s website manuals, how-to pages, and alerts for your printer.  Be sure to take an extended look at what’s available.

I hope this helps!

Re: Clean the paper path

Sorry, I already read all those instructions for a WINDOWS solution. Unfortunately, I have a MACINTOSH. Unles I am missing something, the solution calls for finding the device in the WINDOWS SYSTEM TRAY, an element that is NOT AVAILABLE on the Mac. From the looks of the Operators Manual that I have already downloaded a couple of days ago, there are a lot of things in the Windows System Tray, that, unless they are available elsewhere, are not possible to do on a Macintosh.

Re: Clean the paper path

System Tray!  TaskBar.... something... the ribbon along the edge of your monitor screen, maybe the bottom where you have startup shortcuts - similar to shortcut icons that are in the Desktop area floating around on the free area of the screen.

I think...

It's talking about getting you to the software shortcut icon that controls the printer software.  Hmm..  I am not sure what the Full Feature Software is going to look like on the Mac, but it should have some sort of central "HP Solution Center" or "Main Printer Software" icon that installs with the software.  In THAT, you will find all your printer bits, including tools to clean cartridges, scan, print...

Example:  HP Solution Center (renamed shortcut)

HP_Print_Center.PNG

Make sense?

I could send a picture, but my own Taskbar is so bizarre that you might not recognise it.  Smiling.

Install the Full Feature Software!

I hope this helps!

Re: Clean the paper path

On the Macintosh, it is called the Dock, and it is for often used applications, folders and the like. I have an application for the LaserJet, but it DOES NOT offer shortcuts, or even access to such things such as "Clean the paper path," or "turn on/off low toner warning," or much of any other commands to the printer, other than sending print jobs and measuring approximately how much toner is left. Basically it lists information, but no actual access to the printer not having to do with printing jobs.

Re: Clean the paper path

OK.. Well, the Full Feature Software is certainly a different animal on the Mac.  On HP, the FFS is under an umbrella software (HP Solution Center) that has within it all the printer tools.

I apologize for the misunderstanding.  Perhaps one of our Mac users will have a better idea.

I hope you find a solution.

Re: Clean the paper path

Thank you for your effort. Since the Mac version does not offer the solution so apparent in the Windows version, I was hoping for some work around, or even a third party solution.

I can't find the feature for cleaning in Windows 7. Any help here? There is just no place for maintenance or cleaning.

Clean the paper path

greenrhino_2000, the cleaning feature can be found through the printer interface. Follow the instructions on page 97 of the printer guide.
