Color Laserjet 2840 on Vista 64 no color

Just installed a new Dell computer with Vista 64 on it and installed the universal print driver for the printer.  When I print I am not getting any color.  The printer is conencted via ethernet and we print using TCP/IP. 

What am I missing?

Hi there

I am having the exact same problem, on the exact same printer (2840). There doesn't seem to be any color option in the universal print driver to set. The test page when i set it up had color on it, but that's it.

When opening printer properties, the initial 'General' tab has the 'Features' section which includes 'Color: No'.

Any way to change this setting?

If you still have not resolved this please try installing a printer and try using the 2840 post script driver that is already pre loaded in the vista printer list this should work.

Non of those drivers work.

Instead, disconnect printer, go to add printer. chose the printer type HP, in the list chose the 2800 series driver and install. now connect printer and it should print fine.

the hp software does not work with vista, so you will not have a lot of the all in one function on the pc.

The HP software does work on vista just not the 64 bit version however you can still scan using windows photo gallery
