Connect 2 computers to an OfficeJet 6500A

Hi, I'm trying to connect two computers to an OfficeJet 6500A printer - with wires.  How do I do it?

You can connect the printer to two computers over the network:

  1. Connect the printer to your router by ethernet cable
  2. From any PC connected to the same network, follow the installation CD came with the printer by choosing a network connection.

Thanks, but there's no network available.  I'd like to simply use a splitter, so I can connect both computers to the printer.  Is that possible?  And which type of splitter/cabling do I need?

a USB connection will allow you to use a single PC only.

Using any splitter for this porpuse will reduce the USB power voltage and will not allow a stable connectivity as the device require.
