Deskjet 3050 scanner will not install ~

I have an HP Vista 64 bit computer, and I finally got the printer installed and working but not the scanner.

 

I get the error "scan to computer is currently unavailable. An error occurred while connecting to the printer."

 

I have tried reinstalling the software again and again.  Any solutions?

I only get the scanner to work when I plug it directly in the computer via usb.   Crazy that the scanner will work on our laptops via wireless.  That will have to do for now.  Just the whole idea was to be totally wireless.
