Deskjet 3070a printing with setup cartridges

I have installed an HP Deskjet 3070a for a neighbour. During the installation I used "standard" HP 364 cartridges instead of the "setup" cartridges. The setup did not continue - as I have learnt since. I have now installed the "setup" cartridges and have now set the printer up successfully.

Can you tell me if we can carry on using the setup print cartridges as normal - until they are empty or should we change to the standard cartridges now?

On the subject of the standard cartridges we have not been able to securely refit the caps on top of each cartridge. Our concern is that they may dry up and be unusable. Do you know how long (very roughly) will the cartridges last if they are not stored in this way. Should we switch back to the standard cartridges now instead of waiting for the set up ones to empty?

continue using your setup cartridge first and when they will be empty use the "standard" cartridges , if the cap wont fit anymore on the "standard" cartridges put them in something sealed so they won't dry until you need them.

I am having a major 'Headache' with trying to install new printer cartridges, official HP OEM I might add. Upon inserting the new cartridges I get the message Insert Set up Cartridges. Upon inserting the Set Up cartridges I get a Missing or Damaged error, its a Catch 22 issue and goes on and on.

Where can I get a new set of Setup cartridges from?

If I don't resolve this issue I am going to buy another nonHP printer.

Hi

Sorry to hear of your problem. The Set up cartridges were supplied with the printer. I hadn't realised that they had been and tried to install hp cartridges that I had bought separately. Once I took out these cartridges and put in the set up cartridges the printer was OK. From what I read at the time the set up cartridges are only supplied with the printer and are not available separately.

If you are having problems with the supplied set up cartridges I think you should contact HP or your supplier and get advice from them.

Hi JIFFYBAG, are you still seeing this issue? If so I'd suggest contacting HP phone support. They may talk you through a printer reset or check you're using the latest FW.
