I have a Deskjet 870Cxi that I was just given and I'm trying to connect it to my 32-bit Windows 7 machine. According to the HP site, the printer should be detected and there should be no need to install drivers for the printer.
This doesn't happen.
When I try to add the printer, neither the 870 nor the 8700 series are even listed. One other thing that I should mention with regards to this printer is that it does not have a USB connection. Parallel only. I'm using a known good cable, and I do have another parallel printer that does occasionally get used with this machine, so I know that the port works as well.
I would appreciate any advice on how I can get this printer working, please.
Cheers,
Rod Templeton
