Deskjet 882C unable to get it to print

I have been using this printer since 1998.  I have replaced the cartridge many times.  When I replaced it this time the light keeps blinking.  I changed bothe the color and black cartridge.  I have gone through trouble shooting many times and it still does not accept a command.  It takes the command, bit it won't print.
