Hi,
how can I do a duplex scan with the CM2320 FXI, using readiris or other scan-Software (Windows XP)? I can *copy and print* a two-side-document, but I can't scan it to a pdf-File.What's to do?
Thanks for your help,
Rumolt

Hi,
I would be interested in an answer to this question as well.
Thanks,
Michael

I believe that you can do this but you would have to setup scan to email or folder to do so that way you can use the printer to describe the original. Not entirely sure but I would give that a try.

Let me say that I have bought HP again because I really like the hardware, but the software is enough to drive a man to drink, and navigating the website this far has been a significant trial. On with my problem ...
I'd really like to be able to do duplex scanning on my CM2320fxi (the capacity to do so was a significant factor in the decision to buy). It is ridiculous that a duplex scanner can only duplex scan to print and not to file, but the only reference in the UI is greyed out (although I can change it - see below).
I do not understand why there seem to be two parallel ways to set up scans which don't appear to interact. However, I have tried changing the XML behind the method in the Solution Centre to say Duplex 1 instead of Duplex 0 - to no effect, and I have tried changing the registry setting for the method using the scanner menu, again to DuplexOn 1 instead of 0, and again to no effect, other than showing the greyed out checkbox as checked. Am I guessing correctly at the values and/or are there any other relevant settings?
I'm afraid I couldn't understand the reply about setting up the scan to e-mail. I did try a few things but nothing made any sense.
Someone must know how to do this!
Thanks in advance,
Tony

After upgrading to Win7 and reinstalling my software, I no longer had the ability to scan duplex on a C309c. They tried to tell me that this machine was not capable of that, and I kept telling them that it did before. I finally gave up on them.
What does work: Go to Windows Fax & Scan; in Win7, I can only scan duplex to tiff or image files, but you can then print the doc to a pdf file. With the full version of Adobe, OCR the doc and you finally have what you want. Not exactly simple or elegant, but this works.

Re using Windows Fax & Scan as I outlined in a previous posting, if you scan to a tif file, it should scan all as one document rather than separate pages (bmp, for one, makes each page a separate file--not much help).

I was told by HP that the CM2320fxi will never be upgradable to support duplex scanning. This is because the TWAIn driver used cannot rotate an image which would be required for duplex scanning.
This seems crazy since it can duplex copy.
This is a serious omission from this device.
Also I find the scanign quality is poor partiularly when scanning a letter or other tet document. The quality is fairly washed out.
HP seem totally unwilling to help.
This has put me off HP MFDs and I certainly won' tbe buying another one.

I would love to know if anyone has discovered a solution since the last posts. Has HP updated their software to enable this feature? The hardware clearly is capable, since it can automated duplex copy.

I'd love to hear that, too! This device is not fit for purpose as it is, and I think one would be within one's rights returning it on that basis.
I have now sworn off HP - I have quite a bit of HP kit (monitors, a server, printers, scanners) but won't be getting any more. I love their hardware but their software is dreadful - even signing in here to post this reply was difficult.
