Failed installation due to missing USB.inf

HP F335 all in one printer worked on a laptop with Windows XP service pack 3. We tried to install printer on another computer also using Windows XP service pack 3 but installation failed after about 12% due to missing USB.inf file. Cannot locater this file on hard drive or on the original XP installation CD. Both Dell computers about 3 years old.

The fix turned out to be solution #2 of http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00035977. Thanks to Mandy at HP total care

I also is trying to install a four in one printer and it comes up with a msg saying missing usb.inf file, I went an enabled show hidden files. I re-installed my printer, and put the disk in for the driver, but still cannot install my printer. What would be my next step. Please help, I just bought two new hp officejet 4620 printers for my home office.

Have there been any replies to this error message?  I'm trying to install HP photosmart Print Scan Copy on HP Pavillion dv 8000 and says missing USB.inf file from windows.

The links would continue to be helpful to users IF HP DIDN'T TAKE DOWN THE PAGES THEY LINK TO. They are no use at all when the pages are gone even though we still need the solutions they contain.

I have failed to install an HP 3520 printer.  an error message suggests that there are operating systems missing, specifically 

c:\windows\inf\usb.inf

c:\windows\inf\usb print.inf

and related others

Other printers have loaded perfectly what do I have to do to get this one working?
