I have always had HP printers and I have always had an enjoyable experience. Recently I purchased a Photosmart C4780 and I am going through complete HELL.
I have a desktop computer with Windows XP. When I run the installer for the printer software, I get the following error:
"Fatal error during installation.
Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Bin\hpqdstcp.exe. Verify that you have access to that directory.
Please go to http://www.hp.com/support for troubleshooting information about "Fatal Error" and "MSI.Destinations".
The installer installs everything except for the HP Imaging Device Functions. This is a problem because this component is needed for the software to communicate with the all-in-one printer.
The hardware is working fine. I can scan, print, and copy from the device and I can print and scan from non-HP software.
However, I cannot scan from the HP Solution center.
I have spent 4-5 hours with three different hp support specialists for three different days and they have been unable to resolve my problem. They have made me waste my time installing and uninstalling the software over and over again, to the point that I an quite sick of it. I am considering not buying HP printers any longer. Too bad, since I have purchased HP printers for 30 years.

I have just purchased a HP Photosmart Wireless e-All-in-One B110 series printer and am having grief installing it. I keep getting error writing to file.C:\ Documents and Settings\ All Users. Windows\ApplicationData\HP\Digitalimaging\Data\Des
Verify you have access to that directory.
I have checked and that particular directory is empty but have no idea how to rectify this problem. This is a last resort or I will return the printer because that particular part is what I will require most.
I would be grateful for any help regarding this problem as I am not too computer knowledgeable and would love to rectify it.
