Get error: install operation took too long to execute when trying to install Software for 1536dnf.

I am trying to install the Full Feature software and also the Basic software and driver. Both of them give me the same error, I've also duplicated this on a different machine.

The install seems to be working fine until it gets to 99% then it will never complete and eventually will error out with "Install operation took too long to execute".

I've tried installing the software from the downloads on the HP site and also directly from the CD. Also tried this on a completely seperate machine and get the same error.

I saw a post referencing doing a HP Smart Install however I do not see the SISetup.exe on my install cd. Any suggestions?

Machines are Win7 x64 SP1. Trying to install just with direct USB cable.

I am getting the same error when I try to install a M351 - M451 color printer.  Is there an answer?

I never got a response from anyone. I can't remember how I got it to work but I do recall calling HP Tech Support so maybe they gave me something to try, can't remember sorry.

It sounds like you are experience a MSI Fatal Error. There are a multitude of different error codes and ways to fix them. I would suggest trying the following article and starting at "Solution two". If you get any other errors please post those.

Regarding the M351-451 there is an excellent post on the topic here.  It recommends not using the USB smart install method but rather installing via the CD.
