HP 4620 won't WiFi connect

I have an HP Officejet 4620, and I'm trying to set it up on a WiFi network. I was able to intially able to set it up at my home WiFi network, but I travel for work and when I take it with me and try to set it up on a new network, I haven't been able to get it to work. I've run the network installer numerous times, entered the correct password, but it tells me to connect the printer via a USB device (even though it's already connected with a USB cord). What else can I do? I tried to run a firmware update, but the updater told me that my printer didn't have an update available.

I'm on a Mac running OS 10.6.

I think the best bet is to Restore Wireless Defaults on the front of the printer BEFORE trying to connect it to a new network.

Yes, I've tried that. Still no luck.

The setup of this printer to a new network requires running the HP software.  When you run that software it will search for networks and then ask you to connect the USB cable.  Do not connect the USB cable before the software asks you to.

Honestly, I see a couple of potential issues with doing this:

1. If these networks are like hotel or business networks, they may not accept your printer or allow communication.

2. Doing this software-style connection is painful and was not designed to be done repetitively.  If you are going to do a lot of this in the future, I recommend getting a printer that has a Wireless Setup Wizard on the front panel of the printer, which will not require running the HP software and messing with a USB cable every time you connect.

I am running the HP installer. What printer could I have gotten that would work better? Honestly I'm very disappointed that this wasn't better advertised, or better described on the website.

I am not sure the connection methods are listed in the marketing materials.

Let me know what you need in a printer and I can recommend one with front panel wireless setup.
