Hello,
I had some problems this morning with my C4480 all-in-one printer. I tried to make a scan the way I usually make them.
That is through the HP solution Center. When I tried to open it, I got an error. A very bizarre fact is that it seemed to be gone while I made no changes to my computer.
A lot of troublesearching and -solving ended up with me removing all HP-software, only to re-install it with the correct .exe file found on the HP drivers section.
The driver is installed and the printer works again but HP solution center isn't installed.
I can make a scan when I go to Windows - configuration - Devices & printers - HP photosmart C4400 series.
But I can only save the scan into .jpeg .png .bmap & .tif files while with the solution center I could save the files to .pdf aswell.
Can anyone help me out on this issue?
Thanks...

There is a patch available at the HP web support portal for your printer that is stated to return the functionality of the Solution Center and more. It is available here.

Hi,
thx for the fast reply. I downloaded the patch and try to install it but all it does is say that it needs a reboot to function properly.
So I rebooted and still no changes, meaning I still have no solution center.

Uninstall the printer software completely and then reboot. Renstall the full featured software, reboot and then download and install the patch software.

Uninstalled everything from HP, rebooted, downloaded the driver called:
"PS_AIO_03_C4400_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe"
During the installation I get an error which says:
"C:\Users\Kay\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS446B\hpzsetup.
with a message in dutch underneath, literal translation: 'irreparable error during installation'.
After that I get an 'installation is not complete message' where I can check the logbook, the logbook says:
Application did not return ERROR_SUCCES. Returned 0x2
LaunchApp (X:\hpqtra08.exe - shutDown,1,00000000,00000000) failed with 2
Error opening key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard\Install\{key.code}
etc etc etc
the complete logbook error is about 50 lines long, I can't copy paste it...
After this, all (failed) software of HP get's deleted again automatically.
I tried this two times already and it keeps doing the same…

How about tryng a different browser?
That is what I generally do when I experience difficulty downloading a file from the server. If it does not work in a different browser please let me know and I will see if I can find an FTP location for the sofpaq.

Hmm I'm not sure but I think you misread my last post.
The problem does not occur in downloading the softpaq but during the installation of it.
Anyhow, I gotta leave home for the rest of the evening. I downloaded the softpaq anyway with IE now instead of Chrome just in case that might indeed be the issue.
I'll ge back to you asap

I did not misread your post. The downloaded sofpaq could have been corrupt.

What is the operating system installed and what is the brand/model of your PC?
Do you have .NET v.3.5 or higher installed? Most HP software require this framework to be installed.
Do you have a current version of Sun's Java Runtime Environment installed?
When was the last time that you ran the system file checker (part of Windows)?
