HI & THANKS
3 years ago I bought an iMac (now version 10.5.8) + HP C3180 => everything worked always perfectly.
2 months ago Apple Store replaced my HD for a 500Gb and I re-installed all programs.
But when I tried to re-install the HP C3180 using the original HP C3100 series CD version 7.8.0 for Mac, the following message appeared:
<THE APPLICATION HPIO TRAP MONITOR QUIT UNEXPECTEDLY
MAC OS X AND OTHER APPLICATIONS ARE NOT AFFECTED>
All printing functions work fine but I noticed 3 specific things that don't work:
1) When I tried to initiate the HP Setup Assistant on the first page <Select your HP Device> under <Printer Name> the HP C3180 does not appear on the list (the list is empty since there is no other printer).
2) I cannot see <Supplies Levels>
3) But most importantly, the Scanner does not work. When I try to open the scanner, this appears:
<Error>
<Sorry, scanner could not be initialized (Scanner not found)>
The HP C3180 is connected and turned on, and I welcome your advice.
Again, Thanks!

I Installed the software from the HP web site and now everything, including scanner, works fine. Thanks!
