HP C4280 & Acer Aspire X3200 problems

Hi

 

New to the forum, hopefully another thread of this subject does not exist (I couldn't find it if it does)

 

I cannot install my C4280 onto my Acer Aspire X3200 running Windows Vista Home Premium x32. I have spent nearly 3 months trying to get it to work and have spoken to Acer and HP without luck. I am not an IT expert so am really struggling to get a very annoying problem solved - some help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I've done all the driver downloads etc and still nothing. I have tried completely deleting the printer and it won't let me do that either as it just hangs during the uninstall.

 

The printer works fine if I attach it to my laptop so I know the printer is OK.

 

Searching around the internet it seems some people have mentioned a problem with one or all of these things;

 

A problem with Word 2007 the first time you try to print from it?

A problem with the AMD phenom 9100e processor?

 

I really don't have a clue, if anyone does and can help me I would be very grateful.

Hi Woody

 

Encountered same problem as what you encountered.

 

I bought my Acer Aspire X3200 last Nov 2008. By that time,

I encountered problems installing the driver for my printer

HP Deskjet F370... but i failed... i contacted the support

from HP in the following months but still failed... I thought

it is a still a bug for Windows Vista Home Basic..

 

FYI, this printer is running in my old PC (Windows 2000).

 

But lately, we bought a new HP printer D4360... still failed..

 

Tried looking solutions in the web, but such still failed...

 

Anyone who has a brighter idea?

Hi Woody...

 

I encountered the same failure upon my installation

of HP Deskjet F370 and D4360... Im trying many

things since i bought this Nov 2008...

 

Contacted HP customer support but still failed... 

 

My OS is Vista Home Basic...

 

Anyone who has a brighter idea?

I tried everything and failed, in the end it seemed the only option was Windows 7. The printer now works fine, very frustrating!
