HP Deskjet 6122 and Windows 7

I just purchased a new Windows 7 laptop. Plugged in my HP Deskjet 6122 USB printer,  and it was recognized as unspecified. The 6122 driver windows update indicated that the alternative driver is the 990C. Installed the 990c driver, used LPT1 but no luck. Driver installs correctly but does not communicate with the 6122 printer. I do not want to purchase a new printer but it looks like the 6122 is not recognixzed by Windows 7. How can i get the 6122 to work with my new windows 7 laptop?

Simple answer is that LPT1 is parrallel. You need to correct that to USB. The 990C driver is correct.

BTW> I have the same printer on Vista. Do you have the duplexer module on the back?

Thanks....thta worked but the printer name is 990C...but thta's OK. No I do not think that I have the duplexer

@vensonnct - Itmay not be available on Windows 7 Operating system. To update the Driver list just click on Windows Update below the list of in-OS drivers.

I found the advice about installing the HP 990c driver helpful but but it does not seem to work when the duplex module is installed.

I have a duplex module on mine and it will not work on Windows 7.

Have you any experience of this problem? Is it more simple to remove the duplex module?

Applied fix  to get HP Deskjet 6122 to print using HP 990c driver and using USB port.  Was able to run one page and then back to where I started.  Cannot get device to print.  What should I do?

Hello,  I also wanted to connect my lovely HP deskjet 6122 printer to my new HP touchscreen computer 520

Windows 7  64 but auth. but I do not succeed.  Even when following the set-up by HP and clicking on Windows for update for more printers I do not get that 990c alternate printer to obtain the driver for my 6122 !!  I have already lost 10 hours, calling to HP services but they are so incompetent and just refer you to their link....so it goes on without result.

Can anyone help me how to get the printer working with a driver that is accepted by Windows7 ?
