HP Deskjet 6940 and 6540 ink issue

Evening All

We have around 150 hp 6940 and 6540 printers to do basic printing and have had them around 2 years however recently we have had ink problems.

we had a massive supply of HP 95(black) and HP 96(tri clour) inks however we run out and have tried HP 338(black) and HP 343(tri colour) which we have been told that it was 100% compatiable, but after inserting the cartidges a message appears on the computer screen saying they are not the correct cartidges!

Any advice?

if not does anyone know if we can or any company who will recycle them so any money for it can go towards replacements!

thank you

Re: HP Deskjet 6940 and 6540 ink issue

Where are you located?  The cartridges are regionalized and the 95/96 are not compatible with the 338 and 343.  I would suggest returning the 338/343 cartridges to the place that sold them to you and told you they were compatible.

Re: HP Deskjet 6940 and 6540 ink issue

thank you Bob

I am located in the UK/London however the printers and ink all came from the US(Company headoffice based there)... even the plug needs a UK adaptor!

I think we will have to change all the printers to a one we have sourced in the UK.

Do you know if we can get our current printers recycled or if there is any other solutions as we have around 150 of them

thank you once agin

Re: HP Deskjet 6940 and 6540 ink issue

OK, if the printers were originally bought in the US and moved to the UK then they should be eligible for a "regionalization reset".  Unfortunately the process is a bit time consuming, perhaps 15 minutes per machine and requires some user interaction in the process.  There should not be any charge for this from HP, the change is covered under the cartridge warranty (even if the printer is out of warranty).  Contact HP and request a regionalization reset, explain that you have 150 units that need attention and they may have an alternative to the standard process.  If you run into difficulties please send me  a private message (click on the envelope near the top center of the page) with your contact information and I will raise this issue with HP.
