HP Deskjet F4180 All in one - Software won't install on Windows 7

Hi there,

I recently purchased a new computer with Windows 7 on it. I'm trying to use the printer (HP Deskjet F4180 All in on) on this computer, as my other computer is a laptop, but I'm running into some issues with the install.

I went to the printer's driver page and downloaded the software, but it won't install. When I open the .exe file it prompts me to start the install but then a picture of a CD ROM comes up and the install closes. I've tried re-downloading the file but the same issue keeps occuring. I can't get past this stage and it's really frustrating.

One point I should make is that I tried to install the printer using the CD that came with it and when it said my operating system wasn't supported, I went to the HP website.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: HP Deskjet F4180 All in one - Software won't install on Windows 7

I wonder if something went wrong with the web pack you downloaded.

You could try to save the web pack to a new location and try installing again?

This isn't the solution. I downloaded it four times to two different locations.

I appreciate your help, though.

Re: HP Deskjet F4180 All in one - Software won't install on Windows 7

Hi,

Open Computer and type %temp% in the box at the top of the screen (This will take you to the temp directory)

In this directory you will find a directory that starts 7s, open this directory

This is where the web download extracts itself.

Change the folder options so that you can see the file extensions.

You will find that there is a file call

hpzsetup.exe.txt rename this to hpzsetup.exe

The you should be able to restart the web install by clicking on the setup.exe in this directory.

I hope you can follow these instructions, if not message me and I will see how I can help you.

Re: HP Deskjet F4180 All in one - Software won't install on Windows 7

hi JonW,

I had the same problem and so i followed your instructions but nothing happened.

I am able to print the test page, align the cartridges but nothing happens when I want to print something from my computer. After i give the print instructions, i open the print queue to check if the correct thing is printing but right now nothing shows up. there is no response from the printer and it says "0 documents in queue".

Same with scanning. when i tried scanning, the whole thing gets scanned and i can even edit it but when i go back into the location where the file is saved i can not find it there. i tried changing the 'to-be-saved" locations but still the same.

I really would appreciate if i can get some help with this. thanks.

Trying to install Deskjet 820cse, into a Windows 7 64-bit system

Trying to install Deskjet 820cse, into a Windows 7 64-bit system -- called HP -- no dice. They want 64.99 to help me 'cause my printed that works fine is out of warrenty. The advice from the person on the phone was to buy a new printer. Thanx for that.

I went through the regular install routine, and the test page, or one I send myself just gets stuck in the queue.

If anyone has any ideas, super appreciated.

Re: HP Deskjet F4180 All in one - Software won't install on Windows 7

this is pretty old, but figured there would be more people like me having this problem. i had to disable "updates" in the internet connections for the HP wizard. once the wizard comes up, at least for mine, it had settings like customize, internet connection..etc..

Don't think the time spent on this is worth it. I would not pay "ANY" money for a solution. This printer is not worth.! Great excuse to get a new printer. One that is not so noisy and unpredictable.
