There no driver for windows 7 till mid November.
I have installed device driver for laserjet 1020 on windwos 7, here is the method for installing driver in windows 7 for laserjet 1020.
1. 1st of all download laserjet 1020 basic printer driver for windows vista. you can down it from this link
2. after downloading driver for vista extract it even exe file with winrar and then go to device manager and then HP laserjet 1020 which is shown as unkown device and right click on it and after that update driver
3. and after that go to folder where extarct vista driver exe and select it .
note. i did not run exe file.
Thanks for reading. hope it will work for you
4. and it will be installed without any problem like me.

Mehmood Could you tell me exactly how you installed the laserjet 1020 driver for system 7. I still cannot get your suggestion earlier to work. and the system autoinstall does not help either. My laserjet 1020 is still 'unknown'!
thanks

Many thanks for your reply!
I have tried this method and everything seemed to work OK
I downloaded the specified driver, ran it. When I plugged in the USB, the computer (new one) took several minutes to copy files etc, then said 'installation was successful'
However, the 1020 still appears as 'Unspecified', in Printer and Devices so not in the Printer Devices category.
Any suggestions

hi labyrinth,
If you tried old method which was shown in video then you should download laserjet 1020 basic driver for windows vista 64bit . and after that
1st uninstall your previoud installed driver .
1- after that extract download basic driver of vist 64bit and even extract exe file as shown in video.
and do further as in video.
I recommend you to use driver for windows 7 (which is available now for 64bit also) , if you are not using driver for windows 7. there no need for old method which was shown in video.
here is link for laserjet 1020 windows 64bit driver

Hope it will work for you.

I have a wifi with a destop cpu connected to a HP 1020 by usb. The desktop runs windows xp. I've just got a new laptop running windows 7 (32 bit i think). I can see the 1020 on the laptop via wifi but can't can't find the driver. I've downloaded the new driver from HP onto my desktop and it says everything was updated fine.Does the new driver have to go on my new laptop rather than the connected desktop? I've tried that but still says can't fine the new driver.
