HP OfficeJet 4500 creates 25 MB files when scanning

When I try to san documents on my printer, the files are huge. I scanned 26 pages and got a 25MB file. What do I need to do to get the scanner to compress? My cheep scanner can scan one page at a time and creates at KB file. This system is turning out to be useless to me. I am running an XP with all updates. The drivers are from the original CD.

When scanning in Solution Center there should be a slider where you can adjust the file size. Its not in the most noticed place so I will help guide you to it.

When you go to scan to PDF go to change scan options. You should see a button called "Change scan to file options" You should see at the type file type drop down and a button labeled "pdf options". Inside PDF options should be a slider to adjust size.

Look forward to your response. Hopefully its as simple as adjusting that bar. If you still have problems later also include your scanning ppi resolution.

I am useing MAC with OS 19.8.2 all the updates.

I haven't been able to find where to configure the file size.

I always scan thorugh the HP Scan application.
