Ok , Double click on that file and let me know if you are able to scan?

As reported earlier when I double click that file I get the following message:  "A required software component was not found or improperly installed. Reinstall the HP Photosmart software that came with the device and try scanning again." The HP scanning windows very briefly appears. Under extended information the following is mentioned: "4,(2,0,80040154), (0,0,0), (3,56,0)".

Hi iVerbatim,

The only thing we have left is to restore the computer. If you can use the scan with scanners and camera wizard or Microsoft paint then that is what you may need to do going forward. It appears that the OS and our software are in conflict with one another on this system. Let me know what your thoughts are?

I've been toying with the idea of going back to Windows XP. The HP Printer is not the only issue I've had with Windows 7, whereas Windows XP was trouble free and served me well for 2 or 3 years.

Thanks again for your help. Although it may not apply to everyone I will mark your suggestion as the solution to this problem.

i have attempted to get the solution center downloaded so that i can scan wirelessly or connected...and i am extremely frustrated. i have removed my device at least 10 times...help!!
