Thank you so much.  My problem was with the black ink.....I'm glad I found this because IT WORKED!

Sounds so easy... "remove the ink cart".  HOW does one do that?  What exactly IS the ink cart?

I removed all of the ink cartridges, lifted the grey handle, pulled out the inset tray and cleaned the heads at the back of it and the contact ones in the printer.  I then replaced all and plugged in the power while holding down 3.  Didn't help.  I am about to toss this thing in the ocean.  It's given me nothing but trouble since I bought it.

I tried this twice and still am getting the ink system failure message.

I tried everything as above and also from other sources and it still won't print in color!

Thank you for the information.  It fixed my printer.  I had already replaced two ink cartridges befor I realized it was my printer.  Thanks again.
