HP Officejet 6500 wireless - Scan connection 2nd computer in network

Wireless environment:  When using 2nd computer, trying to Scan a Document, getting the error message "The scan cannot be performed because another program or computer is using the networked HP imaging devise."  Extended Error Information  8,[(0,18, -214746725*)].

This happens all the time regardless if all other computers are turned off, and on this computer no other program is running.

Where do I go to clear this error so that the scan can be performed from the 2nd computer in this wireless environment noticing that the scanner is available.  The 1st computer does not have this problem at all.

HELP!

I am unsure of how your printer is connected.  Is it connected via USB to one computer and sharing with another?  If that is the case, it only shares the print function, not the scan function.

If you have a wireless router, connecting the printer to it (wired with Ethernet or wireless) is the way to go.

Re: HP Officejet 6500 wireless - Scan connection 2nd computer in network

I have a OJ6500 wireless printer.  I am connecting two pc's to it.  One using Vista and the other windows 7.  Both can print to it but only the one using windows 7 can use the scanner.  When I try to scan it seems the printer only sees the pc with windows 7 so that is where it sends the document.  I would appreciate any help.
