Timed out waiting for product finish event

Description - I had a vundo trogen a few weeks ago which i had resolved.  It was not till after the holidays i went to use my C7280 to scan some documents on my computer but it was unable to detect an HP product when i atempted to open HP solutions center.  I then went to my user manual and went thru the reinstall instructions.  The uninstall went without problems and so was most of the install procedures till the system reconfigure at the end of the install at the 96% mark.  The install window would wait till a fatal error occured because of time out then the above error log would be made.

Re: HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One reinstall error

I am getting this exact same error during installation on my system, and it similarly hangs and timeouts at the 96% mark:

c8180 all-in-one

windows XP service pack 2

wireless connection

I have tried separately downloading and installing the c8180 driver package from the hp website but it has not fixed the problem.  Hopefully someone else out there knows the solution?  Thanks -

Re: HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One reinstall error

Scenario 1: Installation Stuck at 96%, Follow the below steps:

Please follow the below steps when the installer is stuck at 96% and complete it before the installer times out (i.e. 10 minutes). If the installer times out after 10 minutes it will directly go to 100% and disappear without giving a congratulations screen.

-Digital Imaging Monitor - Check if it's working, right click and see if you get options.

If it is frozen then end the hpqtra08.exe process (Ctrl-Alt-Del > Processes).-

Restart it from the Start up Menu, Start > All programs > Startup > DIM or C:\ Program Files>HP>Digital Imaging> Bin > hpqtra08.exe -

Enable or restart the below services hpqcxs08

Pml Driver

HPZ12 or PMLHPZ12HP

Cue Device discovery services (For Network Installation)

The installation should complete successfully and it should give the congratulations screen. Try scanning now.

Re: HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One reinstall error

I have the HP Photosmart C6380 all-in-one printer and was experiencing the same problem.    Install hang at 96%.   I did notice that some of the HP services would fail to start up, and I noticed that the un-install did not remove these services (not even L1, L2, L3, L4, or the Windows Uninstall utility.)    HP was no help at all.   Just kept telling me to re-install.   Why, when I did this dozen of times already.      So, first thing is to completely un-install.     I used the download install 160 MB.   This installs in the C:/windows/temp/ directory, with the install in a folder that starts with 7z.    Goto this folder and util - ccc - and run the uninstall_L3.bat.    Always click the reboot later check as it uninstalls everything one bloated HP app after another.   Clean out the temp folder.     Reboot.   After reboot, MOST IMPORTANTLY, delete the hp services from the registry.   (FOR XP) Click Start - Run - type in regedit in the blank.   Create a backup.  HIghlight the My Computer in the Registry Editor and select File - Export and save the file.      Navigate to My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services.      Remove all HP printer services:  (skip hpn - this one is for SCSI)  (Right click and select delete for the following:  hpqcxs08, hpqddsvc, and HPSLPSVC (there might have been another, but I don't have it anymore,   look at the Description field to see if it is related the HP printer install.).    Reboot.   After this install went perfectly.      I tell you, I spent way, way too much time on this (must have re-installed 30 times) but it is nice that it finally works.     Not sure if this is necessary or not, but I also uninstalled all my Roxio software because I read that this may be the source of the problem (This alone did not fix the problem until I uninstalled the HP printer services from the registry.)

Re: HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One reinstall error

Somewhere on the HP site (I don't remember where), HP provided an uninstall utility that completely removes all of the HP install on the PC.  I had to use it once a few years ago when I had trouble with my PSC 1210.  I then reinstalled my printer and everything worked fine.

Re: HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One reinstall error

Hi Squirt,

You could try these steps:

1. go to C:/>windows>system32>Macromed>flash  and check for the version of the flash player installed

2. if the flash player you get is a flash9b.ocx try to look for the flash9butil.exe and run it. It will update your flash driver to flash10a

3. try reinstalling the printer and check for functionality

Yes, I had the same problem...

But the 2. or/and 3. solution was successful! That means the cleaning of relevant registry entries (from RJ_Admin) and updating the Flash Player (from Jason).

Thank you all for your suggestions! :smileyhappy:

Re: HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One reinstall error

[ Edited ]

Hi Gonzales,

I have the same problem with HP Deskjet F4180. Installation stalls at 96% giving after a while with the same error messages from the error log. It will not start the hpqtra08.exe process from Windows Explorer as you recommended. However printer works.

If I do installation in steps, it means one by one, installation goes OK and after each step I am getting the congratulation screen. However after all HP Solution Center will not open. Clicking the icon on the Desktop opens the HP Solution window for a sec or two and then dissapears, nothing happening after. Sometimes, not always, I am getting an error that there is no scanning device.

But I can scan with the device through Control Panel which has scanner listed and opens Wizzard for scanning, but just as pictures. This means that the device is present in the configuration, however  HP Solution software does not work.

I am fighting with this installation for some time, HP was no help, I do not know how many times I did uninstalling and reinstalling this software following their advices, from CD as well from their site. I passed through all of their solutions, I was cleaning registry, unabling residence programs like Norton, "playing" with Flash Player (Flashutil09.exe I cannot upgrade!), but I could not get  Digital Imaging Monitor (HP Solution Center) running.

Any idea?

OS is Windows XP Pro with SP3

Regards.

Re: HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One reinstall error

Follow the uninstall from above with doing the uninstall level 3 and cleaning out the registerys(always backup reg first) also go to your c:\ drive and delete all the hp folders after yuou have done the uninstall. Also go to windows on your hardrive-- system32-- rename your twain32.dll file. restart. It sometimes help to run the uninstall level 3 bat 3 or 4 times during the uninstallation.
Kudos appreciated if question answered or solution provided

Re: HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One reinstall error

Hi,

I did what was suggested, again uninstalled and installed the software,  ran uninstall level 3  four times in row, cleaned out the registry, deleted all the HP folders; no luck, again the same error at 96% of installing process. I did not find any of "twain32.dll" files on my hard disk.

Bloody device prints and scans but HP Solution Center is not running. It says "No HP device have been detected".

Why so many people have troubles installing HP products?

Regards.
