Re: HP Solution Center configuration

<bump>

(still have not been able to install Solution Center, after 4 months of emails back and forth with HP tech support,  several levels.

 many of the 26 emails from HP tech support merely repeat the same instructions of uninstalling/reinstalling the software;  I've done it six times.)

Re: HP Solution Center configuration

I have read several things regarding this problem but have not found a solution yet.

I have removed and reinstalled the software for the 2401v All-in-One but it has not  been resolved.

When I was installing everthing went well until after about 24% was loaded. Then all of a sudden the install finished

but bypassed configuring your product. When I restart the disk it says that it was installed correctly but it was not.

Is there a way to configure the Solution Center by hand or restart that process?

I have downloaded the latest driver for this for another try.

All help is appreciated.

Also, When I run the HP diagnositcs I get an error when I check for HP devices. I'm sure something

to do with the config file is a problem.

I also downloaded and installed the newest drivers but if failed at the configure the device area. This happened both with the CD and with the download. Suggestions?

Re: HP Solution Center configuration

All,

I was able to use the patch from this link which I found under

Resolving HP Solution Center Scan and Product Status Issues After Upgrading Windows Vista to Windows 7.

//ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL30471/oj-75535-2/dot4patch_reboot.exe

I did not upgrade to windows7, I have XP, but it did work after I removed it again and then renamed the HP dir. The only thing that is a problem now is that the software configures the device each time it's started. There is a small thing when I scan a document it starts the imagezone even when I state that I want it to scan to a file. The file is saved mind,you, but the imagezone is called when it's no needed.

   Is there a way to fix this issue?

Re: HP Solution Center configuration

I started this message back in '08

I found the best solution to the HP Solution Center configuration problem I was having, was to sell the L7780 printer for 25% of it's original purchase price (because nobody wants these HP MF printers), and buy a Brother MFC 5890CN printer as a replacement.  It has been MUCH more reliable, easy to use, the cartridges cost much less and was just over $100 on sale!!

I was certainly a believer in HP printers and support for over 20 years...but never more!!   Don't be fooled, they knew from the start there were problems with the firmware and the HP Solution Center software, and choose to keep selling these printers without providing even adequate support- by minimal standards.

Send the HP printer group a message as I have and stop buying their faulty products.

Cheers, Mark
