HP deskjet 3050A j611 "error 0x00000709"

Dear Sir,

I have installed my new deskjet HP 3050A j611 on a Win7.

The deskjet has been connected wireless by Wifi, but it doesn´t allow me to add the printer a my default printer.

When I select the printer and select the option of adding the printer as "default" it gives me the error 0x00000709.

So I cannot have my printer as default, this problem causes that I cannot print in outlook, adobe, etc.

I have tried to fix the problem with the Windows problem called "Fix It" but this doesn´t sort out the problem.

Therefor I would appreciate if you could give me a solution.

I have bought the printer yesterday, so I have 7 days to test the printer and return it to the shop if the problem continues.

Hello Jumisab,

Please perform the below steps ...

1. You have to run the registry editor. You have to Click on the Start menu and go to Run  and now enter regedit and click on Ok.
2. Now locate following registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3\<DriverName>
3. From the file menu you have to click on the Export.
4. You have to enter printerName at File Name box and save the file by clicking on Save.
5. You have to edit the printerName  simply right clicking on it and choosing the Edit option.
6. Now replace Previous Names" with hex(7):00,00 .
7. Now save the file.
8. Close Notepad. Merge the file  and now restart the Printer Spooler service.
9. I will be delighted above mentioned solution will help you to fix the matter.

Hi Jazby,

Thank you for the information.

But this still doesn´t work.

I'm probably doing one of the steps wrong.

1. Step 1 OK
2. Step 2 I went into  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x86\Drivers\Version-3\HP Deskjet 3050A j611 series\
3. Step 3 OK
4. wrote down "HP Deskjet 3050A j611 series in the Name box and save the file by clicking on Save in the desktop.
5. right clicked on the file and choosed the Edit option.
6. and changed the "previous name" line by   "Previous Names"=hex(7):00,00 .
7. savee the change.
8. Close Notepad. double clicked on the file and click OK. after this I restarted my PC and the printer.
9. After the reboot, I clicked again on the printer and select to change it as the default printer and again it gave the same error.

So I could you please advise what I have done wrong or what I will need to do next.
