HP solution center informs me to plug in my usb cable and it is plugged in. How do I fix this? HP Officejet 8500 A909a, Windows 7 32-bit, installed driver/update to fix a fax problem (can send but not receive fax, phone shows off hook)

try using different USB cable.... and make sure that they are properly connected

Unfortunately that did not work. The error message when I try to open the HP Solutions center is that the installation is not complete. it informs me to plug in the usb cable or re-run the setup program from the installation cd. I tried to rerun the installation program from the CD but cannot get it to run. It also tells me to access the HP help files from Start, but they are no where to be found.
