I recently purchased an iMac desktop with OS X Lion operating system and an HP Photosmarst 5510 series printer. Whenever I test the ink cartridge aliignmentl, it always fails. Nevertheless, my prints come out looking fine so I am not interested in spending any more time testing the "alignment" of the cartridges. I keep getting popup boxes telling me to align my cartridges and has become a nuisance by filling my desktop screen with alignment requests. There is no "close" button. How can I make them go away?

I'm getting the exact same message on two different MacBook Pros. I'm running OSX 10.7.3. No matter WHAT I do...that **bleep** message continues to come up....over and over again. Not only does it come up...it opens up new dialog boxes for each color. I've turned off all messages in the HP Utilty and it doesn't matter? Also, if you don't remove the "align" dialog boxes...it will slowly add them across the entire screen until you acknowledge this annoying message. If it was vaild...I'd be fine with it. But I've spent hours re-aligning, scanning, etc....it doesn't matter. What's up with this HP?

Hello,
Thanks for the post. With this one, check this:
Regarding Ink alerts and other messages that reoccur after hitting OK on the pop up. I have learned that in some products you need to actually go into the Message Center and acknowledge the messages there in order for the pop ups to stop. Simply hitting OK on the pop up does not terminate the alert. You can Ctrl-Click and highlight all of the messages and acknowledge en masse in the Message Center.
Please make sure that we are acknowledging the ink alerts and such IN the message center.
Good Luck!

If the steps stix gave do not resolve the issue, there is also the option of turning the messages off altogether. Go to HP utility, should be in the dock or in the hewlett packard folder in applications. In there you have an option for message center, in there you can go to settings in the top right, and then uncheck the boxes for displaying alerts.

Thank you for your suggestion. It confirmed I did what was needed to stop the bombardment of multiple alignment messages covering my desktop display. Prior to posting my initial message to the forum, I went to the message center to turn off the alerts, but I continued to receive alert messages for awhile so I thought I had not done it correctly or that there was another step I had to do. After a day or two, the messages have finally ceased to cover my desktop I hope it stays that way. LOL!
Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it very much.

So far, I'm not waking up in the morning to a desktop filled with "Align" requests for 2 of my printer toner cartridges. That's a good thing that gave me back 20 minutes of my day between my Macbook and my wife's. HP needs to fix the bug that allows these messages to continue to populate the desktop even though you deselect the option for alerts in the HP Utility Message Center. I'm also suprised to see that the s/w isn't looking for the existance of a dialog box on the desktop that's already showing the message? Thanks for the help...band aid was applied.

The suggestion didn't work for me because I can't find the message center. Found HP folder in Applications, but there's nothing named "Message Center." Opened all the folders, clicked lots of things, no message center. Other options? Thanks

Uh oh. Went into Message center and deleted all the "Align" messages without "confirming" them first. Are the messages on my (mom's) desktop screen stuck there forever, now???
