How do I access the HP Printer / Scan on an MAC 10.7 OS?

well i downloaded the apple updater and that has givenme some basic drivers i guess but it would not let me run the "Scan" , only the preview. i have connected via the USB as sadly, my wireless is unstable. but it will print from the computer. i was trying to photocopy some documents but no dice. i am in the uk, and i am using the 3050A.

p.s. the HP has not appeared in the applications folder, or anywhere else.

You need to download the Full Feature software from the HP page. After that you should have the HP Utility on your Dock. Once you click on it you should see your printer under devices and options to the left. At the top of the window is an Applications button. After pressing that you may notice several applications in a new window. On my Mac running Lion I then have a choice of running HP Scan 3. From here I can scan without any issues.

Did you download the latest drivers / software off the HP site?  (That is my next step I have to do.)  I was reading on the HP web site that the CD / DVD that comes with the printer does NOT work on Lion (10.7).  You have to download the lastest software from HP.

I also did not see any HP software appear in the Application folder either, which cause me to ask my original question.

Why is your wireless unstable?   Have you tried changing your router to broadcase on channel 1 or 11?  From what I've read, channel 11 seems the best channel to broadcast on.  (I think it is channel 11 - I'm not home right now so I can not check my router.)  The suggestion to to change your channel by steps of 3 (Channel 1, 3, 6, 9, and 11).  See if the reception is any better on any other channel.  (The next channel is to close to the current change, which is why the different articles suggest skipping channels.)

Good luck.  I will let you know what happens when I download and run the lastest software from HP.

No worries! I really hope you can get her printer setup. Our lab is currently running on channel 6 with no problems, but its also one of very few wireless networks in our vicinity. It is a good idea to try and change the channel as it may have interference. Some of the mid range channels tend to have the most use.
