I'll try to be brief. I have a new HP dv6t laptop running Win 7 home premium 64 bit.
I downloaded the recommended software from HP for my Office jet 7310. It was 363 mb!
When I try to install it, it gets through to "configuring" (after the software is installed) and it fails.
When I uninstall, that gives me an error message about failing, but when I click "close" it appears to continue and complete.
I have tried installing with my Zone Alarm running; without Zone Alarm running; and in safe mode. It fails in safe mode because spooler is not running, or something.
I tried looking for log files, but can't make sense of them.
After I try the install, and it fails, I can print to the printer, but the other software does not work. I need the software to work to access the scanner.
I also sent an email to HP support.
Thanks, Ltrip

Is this a USB connection? If it is you might want to install the software first, by pass the connection type and at the end of the installation of the software(after it finish congratulations) try to plug the usb and be sure that the printer is on.

Good question! I tried to get it all in one message!
Yes, it is a USB connection.
Initially, it is unplugged.
During the LOOONNNGGG installation process, it asks me to connect it.
I do connect it and all seems good. I hear the printer moving the print head.
The process continues to a step called "configuring the product" - after the software is installed.
That is when it fails.
Thanks,

I have a HP computer, model Pavillion p6110t, 64 bit running Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. My printer is Lexmark all in one X4270. I cannot install the printer even using the latest driver from the Lexmark website. Error messages say "file lxbmutil.dll not found" and "AIOC.exe has stopped working". It will print but other functions won't work. Lexmark technician had me reinstall the latest driver which I had already done 2 or 3 times. He finally said there was a problem with my operating system. I have had no other problems
